I fired the bitch yesterday. She didn’t show up to her MANDATORY training and that was it, I’d had enough!! I called and left a message on her voicemail telling her that because of the texting and the no show, I was rescinding her employment. I didn’t mention showing up an hour late to training because there’s a possibility she was telling the truth although she knows better and should have left herself more time. So when I came in this morning there was a message from her telling me that she had to take her father to the doctor and then she had class and that she had no time to call me. Ok, she’s got a cell phone and obviously uses it as she’s gotten in trouble for using it at the front desk already, but she couldn’t use it to call me and let me know her situation, even after I’d given her a wallet size card with the front desk phone number, my desk phone number AND my cell phone number. Stupid, lazy cow!! THEN she wanted to know if she’d still be paid for her hours yesterday!!!!!!!! Um hello, news flash, you’ve got to show up to work to get paid!! DUH!!!
Sigh…………………………and she’s in the nursing program!!!!

Ugh, I’m so disgusted! I hired a new girl who is turning out to be a disaster. She’s a friend of one of my best assistants and I usually have good luck with my assistants friends because of the birds flock’n together thing. Nicole is warm, friendly, kind, hard working and very conscience but her friend that I hired is turning out to be none of those things. I caught her texting during orientation and didn’t say anything hoping that after we covered that area that she would refrain from doing it in the future. Today I caught her at the front desk doing it. I told her that this was her warning and that would be it. I also reminded her that we just covered that yesterday. I have to keep after her to stay alert during her training. The freshmen are doing better than she is. She was supposed to meet me for more training yesterday at 10 am. She called at 10 after to tell me she couldn’t find parking. Not acceptable, she’s been on campus long enough to know that parking is a bitch and you need to give yourself plenty of time. She was an hour late. She’s 2/3rd out the door as far as I’m concerned! GRRRRRRRRRR

This has been one of the hardest weeks of my life. This week made the 8 month battle with cancer feel like a breeze. My oldest son was arrested last weekend. Apparently he and his Army buddies went out drinking, Dan got shitfaced and they all decided they were going to be bounty hunters. ARGH!!!! Dan was arrested for vandalism because they broke a window, breaking and entering because they went into the guys house and impersonating an officer because they were in uniform. He was looking at felony charges. I just felt sick. I didn’t know he’d been arrested till I got a call from his gf asking if I’d heard from him. He just bought a motorcycle so I was seriously freaking out. Later she called and said she got a strange collect call from the Orange County Jail system. She didn’t accept the call because she thought it was a mistake. I jumped online and looked up my son’s name. Sure enough, he’d been arrested. I just felt heartsick. I had my routine colonoscopy on Tuesday and went straight from the hospital to the courthouse. The impersonating charge was dropped as soon as they realized he was indeed on duty but the other two charges stuck. He’s doing 30 days in jail, has 3 years of informal probation, a no-trespassing order against him from the guy who’s house they broke into and he has to pay restitution to said guy. I just want to bang my head on the nearest brick wall. I thought if this ever happened to my child I’d be mad as hell but I’m not, I’m anguished. When I saw him in court, he started to cry. He was sitting there with all these other guys in an orange jumpsuit and they were lounging and had obviously all been through it before. Not my boy, he just looked at me and mouthed, “I’m sorry” over and over again. It broke my heart in pieces. I’m going to visit him this weekend and am looking forward to it. This isn’t his first run-in over alcohol but will hopefully be his last. No matter what they do, we always love them no matter what!

This was sent out in our Open Enrollment brochure for our healthcare plans:
Recently the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex mar-riages in California. Conse-quently, the CSU has created new enrollment procedures for benefits programs.
Effective June 16, 2008, the CSU will accept any valid marriage certificate issued in California. The certificate is used to confirm marital status in order to enroll an eligible spouse in health, dental and vision coverage.
The CSU is required to determine whether a marriage is a same-sex or opposite-sex marriage for purposes of the imputed taxation. To comply with this requirement, all employees enrolling a spouse in benefits must submit a “Gender Verification of Married Persons and Notice of Imputed Tax” affi-davit. This form is available in Benefits Services located in Brot-man Hall 353.
I was laughing my ass off. I’d have to verify that indeed my husband does have a penis!!! Gosh, should I enclose a picture for proof? hehehehe
