  • This is my new baby, Trixie. We found her on Halloween. Can you imagine finding a black cat on Halloween? She was under the hood of Doug's truck, on top of the manifold just a crying away. It took her awhile to get used to people and I think she's ferral. After an extremely loud meowing session, she straddled Doug's foot and promtly peed on it while the box sat unused next to her. I had to show her how to use a litter box! I set a shaking kitten into the box, took my index finger and dug a whole in the litter.....yes it was clean... :) The scratching sound got her attention and instinct took over. She's been good ever since but I don't think she'd ever been around people because she had no idea what that box was for. Now she plays with everything is fearless to almost everything and is happy and healthy. I'm grateful for my gift!

  • How wonderful!!

  • No way!  We just got a blcak kitten too.  Trixie was walking on a road and it followed her.  I got a call at work with her saying "well, it was following me on the road (at her sisters house 4 miles away) and well, now its in our garage" .  She sounded like a 9 year old.  everything cept the "Can we keep it?"  I told her if she wanted to keep it, i was fine with it.  It was an all  black kitten as well.  figured every witch needs herself a black cat right?  hehe.  we already have 2 anyway.  whats one more?  the only thing is now we found out she has some kind of genetic issue with a hind knee joint.  Our vet friend said she will do surgery on her, but cant guarantee.  Keep our fingers crossed.

Congrats on your new addition.  Nice name too. hehe.

  • hehe we also have two cats already. They aren't wild about her but they'll get used to her. What did you name yours? Fingers are crossed for the surgery. Poor little thing!

  • She is such a cutie. Good name... that was a nickname of mine several years ago. It sounds like she was meant to be with you and yours. Have a good one.

  • Your kitten looks exactly like the one I have, that's awesome! I love kittens and would have a hard time turning one away if it showed up on my doorstep too! I always wanted to have a black kitty, and I really love my guy! I hope all continues to go well with her, she's adorable!

  • what a cutie. somehow i ended up with a full grown outside cat that has slowly moved his way into my heart and onto my couch. not only has he doubled in size but hs turned into quite the love bug. while i have always gotten kittens before am so glad to have given him a home. u know? he was meant to be my kitty or rather me his human. :)

  • We named our black kitty Salem! And she chose me alright! Followed me 1/2 mile down the road and back. She was sooo tiny and crusty & flea ridden! It's amazing what Advantage can do. I flea bathed her and put Advantage flea stuff on her & let her stay in the garage overnite, and the fleas really were all dead by the next day. Thank goodness, right? And thank goodness my best friend is a vet!!!  The poor kitty has been limping--she has a floating patella (her kneecap won't stay in its socket) My bf is going to do the surgery for free.

  • @Pixiechick70 - Awww, he's lucky to have found you and what a cute name! Trixie was covered in fleas and dirt too. I bathed her 3 times with flea shampoo before the water ran clean. By morning her fleas were all dead as well but it was a battle! I have a red collar with a bell on her so I can see her. She gets into dark corners and hides and we can't find her for long periods of time. :)

  • Aw, congrats on your new baby!
    What a find-especially on Halloween!
